چکیده

Dynamic tissue perfusion measurement (DTPM) is a pre-described and available method in pediatric ultrasound to quantify tissue perfusion in renal Doppler ultrasound by particular video analysis software. This study evaluates DTPM during single and between repeated visits after 6 months, calibrates repeated DTPM within different region of interest (ROI) and compares DTPM with kidney function markers in adult patients with early diabetic nephropathy (n = 17). During repeated measurements, no association of readings at the same patients in the same (n = 3 readings) as well as repeated visit (n = 2 visits) could be retrieved. No association between DTPM, MDRD-GFR, albuminuria, age and duration of diabetes was observed. These negative results are presumably related to inconsistency of DTPM due to non-fixed ROI position as could be shown in calibrating series. Further development of the method should be performed to enable reproducible DTPM readings in adults.

Dynamic Tissue Perfusion Measurement – Basics and Applications

Perfusion is a fundamental prerequisite for all living tissues to meet their needs in terms of supply of oxygen, nutrients, hormones, messenger substances and other necessary dilutes. Dynamic Tissue Perfusion Measurement (DTPM) was developed to quantify the perfusion of tissues and organs by means of colour Doppler sonography. Perfusion is perceived as a certain amount of blood passing through ...

A new ultrasound sign in the diagnosis of pediatric maxillary sinusitis

Background: Computed tomography scans (CT scan) and X-rays are used to diagnose paediatric maxillary sinusitis. This study aimed at exploring the diagnostic value of the conventional and colour Doppler ultrasounds and their specific findings in cases of paediatric sinusitis.    Methods: A total of 60 children diagnosed with sinusitis were included in this s...

Color Doppler sonographic dynamic tissue perfusion measurement demonstrates significantly reduced cortical perfusion in children with diabetes mellitus type 1 without microalbuminuria and apparently healthy kidneys.

MOTIVATION With respect to the devastating consequences of the increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus, the main reason for end stage renal disease and dialysis in industrialized countries, and the very limited diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities to predict, monitor and prevent diabetic nephropathy (DN), new concepts for early recognition and quantification of the prevailing microvascul...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...

Novel use of ultrasound to examine regional blood flow in the mouse kidney.

Conventional methods used for measuring regional renal blood flow, such as laser-Doppler flowmetry, are highly invasive, and each measurement is restricted to a discrete location. The aim of this study was to determine whether ultrasound imaging in conjunction with enhanced contrast agent (microbubbles; Vevo MicroMarker, VisualSonics) could provide a viable noninvasive alternative. This was ach...
